Live.Laugh.Love...My Little Man

Yesterday was one of those good writing days. Sometimes you just need to let your house be dirty, your errands go undone, you get the idea...I'm sort of paying the price today. I've got a ton to do, but it was worth that blissful hour when the baby was fast asleep on my chest. With my arms wrapped around him, I managed to pull the computer onto my lap and type the next scene in Children of the Gods #3. It was a great feeling.

Finding time to write with a baby is hard, but it can be done. Most of the time, finding a moment to write isn't my problem though, it's the guilty feeling that accompanies it as I write while leaving him with his toys on a blanket. I feel bad leaving him to play by himself, like I'm being a neglectful mommy. Even now, I'm rushing to get this post done so I can join him on his play mat. BUT, at least I'm making the time to blog.

My point is...I'm getting there. I'm writing. I'm blogging. I can do this!

I'm sure you'll understand why it's taken me a while to get back in the groove...just look at this baby cuteness!

What are your biggest writing distractions? If you have kids, how do you find time to write?

  1. Awe, he's so gorgeous!! I don't have any kiddos, but I have an eleven month old niece whom I take care of when her mommy and daddy are off working or going to school. It's not full time like you but it's enough to make me see that when a baby's around there is very little free time at all. I usually read when she falls asleep, it use to be for two to three hrs before it turned to a thirty minute power nap!! >.< you get the hang of it eventually, and at the same time you get to enjoy a beautiful little bundle ;)

  2. So cute! I don't have kids so it's not too hard for me to find time to write. All I have to do is buckle down and not get distracted by the internet. It still sounds great to have such an adorable little bundle, though.

  3. Hi, Jessica. And who could blame you? Just look at that kid? *smiles* Congrats on finding ways to keep writing, etc. It wasn't until my second son was born that I finally gave it up, but that was 15 years ago now. It was when the kids were old enough that I got back into the game and I regret that lost time. I realize it was for important reasons, but I lacked the maturity as well. On the other hand, there was no Indie Publishing back in that day, was there?
    Wishing you every success.

  6. I've been struggling with this too since my little guy was born. It's only now that he's 8 weeks old that I find myself getting back to my "normal" routine. It's still hard to find time to write, but I'm learning to take advantage of nap times! Your little man is beautiful, and I'm so glad things are falling back into place for you!
